How to find a cheap Beco Baby Carrier

While purchasing a new Beco Baby Carrier is certainly worth the price, I know not everyone can afford a new Beco. We get asked regularly about sales and special deals on the Beco Butterfly, but these don’t happen often, so if you’re looking to save a little money, the best way may be to buy used.

Beco Butterfly EthanCraigsList.org is a great place to start. CraigsList exists in nearly every major city in the US. Buying locally and in-person is usually the safest way to go. You might need to stalk the baby section of your local CraigsList to find a Beco, but they do show up there on occasion. You could also put out an “In Search Of” listing, or ISO. Someone may have a Beco that they aren’t using any longer!

If you’re in the Seattle area, you can score this cute Beco Butterfly I in the Ethan print! And at $85, it’s an excellent deal!

Another online resource is TheBabyWearer.com, an online forum of everything babywearing. There is a For Sale or Trade section where members can buy and sell used carriers. You will need to have a minimum number of posts in other sections before you will be allowed to post in the FSOT forum, but there’s no shortage of interesting things to get involved with on this lively website.

Beco Butterfly JackFinally, keep an eye on eBay. This Butterfly I in Jack has an opening bid of only $20! Jack is a super cool skulls print that only appeared on the Beco Butterfly I for a limited time.

The least expensive options will probably be Butterfly I carriers, but they are still the same comfortable baby carrier available now. The most notable difference is the infant insert on Butterfly I carriers are not removable.

And the last thing to note, if you’re finished with your babywearing years or perhaps you just want to trade in your Beco for one of the new organic line, these are also great places to list your carrier for sale. Another great perk of a quality baby carrier like the Beco is they retain a good resale value, even with a few years of use on them!

A Beco portrait

As a Mother’s Day surprise, Baby #2 drew a Mommy portrait.  Is it any surprise that my portrait features the PAXbaby mama in a Beco Butterfly II NATALIE!  My sweet daughter even drew the Beco by memory!  Not only does she have an eye for detail, but my girl knows just what will make her mommy laugh out loud!

Breastfeeding

Breastfeeding in the Butterfly II can offer a challenge to new nursing moms, but don’t worry!  It is absolutely do-able!

This is Laura from CA and her 6 month old, and they have had great success breastfeeding in her carrier!  Keep in mind that your success will depend on your anatomy :) and practice with the Y-shaped inner panel.  Laura suggested wearing the straps looser than you normally would to allow room for the baby to reach your breast.  She wore a shirt that was able to open from the top, but you could easily lift your shirt from the bottom also!  The upright position of the Beco means that your baby will swallow less air and be able to burp naturally!  Comfortable for baby and hands-free nursing for mother!
