It’s laundry day at the House of Beco! Our Blue Scooter Beco got rudely stepped on after our adventure at the park the other day, and ash from our most recent wildfires got ground into the twill, sob! So, into the washing machine it went! I did not pre-treat the fabric for fear that the twill would fade differently, but I did use Charlie’s Soap, my favorite detergent!, and a full cold water cycle on gentle with an extra pre-rinse with vinegar to set the color! Don’t forget to clip the buckles together too! It came out looking great, squeeky clean, and went to enjoy a line dry outside in the shade.

Manisha in PA wants to make sure that her baby doesn’t need to use the infant insert:
One question, my little guy just turned 4 months but he’s a long skinny thing yet to hit 12 lbs. I tried using the infant insert as directed on the DVD, but it looks like he doesn’t need it. Is it okay to not use it even though he’s not 15 lbs? He has pretty good neck control.
Beco fan, Lissi from Sprout Soup, lets her know:
The infant insert is used for babies up to fifteen pounds. This doesn’t mean you have to use it if your baby is under fifteen pounds, but tall enough to sit in the main part of the Beco Butterfly. I like to make sure that the top of the carrier ends at least half-way up baby’s head. With the adjustable insert in the Butterfly II, you can lower the seat to keep the top of the carrier properly supporting your baby’s neck. But of course do not lower the infant insert beyond the marked line on the inside of your Beco! Once your baby is tall enough that more than half of his head is over the top of the carrier with the infant insert is set on the lowest position, it’s time to graduate to the larger, main section of the carrier.
Here’s a couple guidelines that will help determine if your baby is too small to sit in the main part of the Butterfly and needs to remain in the infant insert. First, your baby needs to be able to sit with one leg on each side of the body of the Butterfly. If his legs can’t straddle it, then he needs to stay in the infant insert where the seat is narrower. Second, the side openings of the carrier may be too large for your little one, make sure that where the shoulder straps come around and attach to the sides of the carrier is lower than half-way between your baby’s armpits and his thigh. Finally, make sure you can lean forward and kiss the top of your baby’s head when he’s riding in the carrier. This ensures that he is high enough and in the most comfortable position for you!

A question from Jackie in Florida about positioning her baby’s legs in her Beco:
Okay - so I just got my new Beco Butterfly in the mail today!!! I am very excited!
Anyway, I put my 2 month old DD in it and I’m not sure she is positioned correctly. She insists on keeping her legs in a ‘froggy’ position and her feet end up going under the waist strap. Should I try to get her legs out of the froggy position or can she stay the way she is?
Resident Beco expert, Jillian from PAXbaby, recommended:
As long as she is comfortable (and safe) you are just fine!!! A nice way to transition her as her legs get longer is to keep 1 leg folded and extend 1 out of the carrier! Then move on to having both legs out as she gets older

Jennifer from NH has a question about how to use her Stay-Put Strap!
How do you fold up the Beco I know it has the strap at the bottom for folding it, but I have no idea how…
Jillian from PAXbaby has the answer!
Fold the Beo outwards with the pretty print on the inside of your roll! Tuck the shoulder straps in as you go, and when you get to the bottom, pull the Stay-Put strap around the rolled up body and attach! If it’s on your waist, you can use it as a “bump” to hold your child on instead of throwing your hip out, or if you aren’t using your Beco, clip the waistband closed to make it a nice little bundle! I clip mine around my stroller handle when we are out at the park so I don’t end up leaving it on a bench!
