A Journal Entry - Beco Love

Beco Love by Desirae in Florida

June 28, 2009 - I welcomed my sweet baby girl, Daelyn, into this world. My life was nothing short of pure bliss. I now lived and breathed every moment with a new purpose-to protect and guide this impressionable little life. I also lived with the misconception that I had everything I needed to take care of this new life that God had seen fit to bless me with: mother’s milk to nourish her, arms to cradle her as she slept, a reasonable stash of fluffy cloth diapers to keep her cute bum dry, a top-rated car seat to ensure extended rear-facing, a few simple carriers to try out baby-wearing, and all of the knowledge I had acquired over the last 9 months to help me feel confident in my decision to breastfeed, co-sleep, cloth diaper, and baby-wear. What more could a girl ask for?

December 23, 2009 - My sweet girl was nearly 6 months old and I continued to live with the misconception that I had everything I needed for her. That was until my new Beco Butterfly 2 arrived in the mail. Not only was the River print drool-worthy, but this carrier was everything I ever dreamed of. Yes, I probably should have put it under the Christmas tree and waited a mere two more days to open it, but I was dying to try it out. I am the proud owner of a moby wrap, a WAHM ring sling, and a sachi mei tai-all of which I love for different reasons. However, the Beco Butterfly 2 is a whole new level of baby-wearing. This carrier takes approximately 30 seconds to get on. Just snap the belt clip, slip your little one in the secure section, snap the chest clip, and go…easy at 1-2-3. Not only was it easy, the beco helped me enter into a whole new world of babywearing-back carries! I’m sure some of you are thinking, “Heck, I can do that with my mei tai or my wrap.” Well, a novice like me never felt comfortable and secure with a back carry until I got this lovely SSC. My darling daughter loves being held and usually protests when she is put down; therefore, an easy, comfortable, and secure back carry is a necessity in my book. I love being able to cook, clean, shop, etc with my little girl on my back. The BB2 makes my life so much easier. Just as comfy, secure, and easy as wearing her on my back is wearing her on my front. Her weight feels so perfectly distributed in this carrier and there is no shoulder pain, even after wearing her for several hours. Even better is my DD loves it! On my back she can “follow” me where I’m going and see what I see, which she loves because she is into exploring new things right now. And on my front she is snuggled up close to my heartbeat and usually falls asleep….she has even fallen asleep on my back because this carrier is so comfy. This leads me to another huge plus about this carrier, which is how easy it is to transfer your little one from front to back or vice versa. It takes less than 10 seconds, which I love. Unsnapping the chest strap and scooting the baby around is a breeze. I haven’t yet had the chance to try out the newborn insert, but I’m looking forward to trying out that snazzy feature when we have our next little one. I do, however, love the little hood. It is the perfect protection from windy weather and warm sun if you’re out walking around and your little one is asleep. Okay, maybe it is an exaggeration putting a carrier up there along with a definite necessity, like food, but the BB2 is definitely on my Top 10 list of must-haves! Basically, to sum all of this up: I LOVE BECO!! Happy Baby wearing!

Life with 5 children seven and under is a busy one. Here is a little glimpse into a typical day in my household.

Felicia's Sky Temple Beco ButterflyOh no……..it’s time to get up ALREADY! I swear I just don’t get enough sleep. Downstairs I go to feed the masses and start my first round of diaper changes. They all want food and they wanted it yesterday. To make things a little easier baby #5 starts his day in the Beco.

Breakfast is done and it’s time to start the morning chores. This is right about the time that baby #4 is demanding for uppy back Mama, uppy back!!! So they both go in their Beco’s to get things donea bit easier. This is usually the time I start breaking up the first arguments of the day.

Wearing two kids with Beco Butterfly carriersDiaper change, snack time, nap time, clean up, outside play time, break up fights. Now it’s time to get everybody in the car for errands and very important Mommy’s yummy coffee with all that whipped cream. The most important things to pack except for the children of course are the Beco’s!! How do people shop with 5 kids by themselves. They MUST own a Beco.

We all head home to pack a lunch, change diapers, potty break, do a quick clean up, referee another fight and head out to a park or beach to picnic. We live in such a beautiful town so this can be a difficult choice to decide where to go. Almost as difficult as which Beco to use, the stunning Sky Temple or gorgeous new Isis. After getting some fresh air and exercise we head back home where it’s time for the evening transition. Mommy gets tubs and showers going while Felicia in her Beco Butterfly IsisDaddy starts cooking a yummy dinner for his six favorite people. Lucky Mommy rarely has to cook!! And of course all this is done with a baby on my back.

Now my favorite time of day is nearing, the time when I have clean smelling snuggly babies. Everybody gets a story, a kiss and hug and off to bed they go. Unfortunately a Mother’s work is never done. After the kitchen clean up, another load of laundry, toy pick up, two or three potty wake up’s, the removal of a bug from somebody’s room, I wipe down the Beco’s from the day’s mess and put them and myself to bed. I really hope tonight’s the night I get extra sleep.
